The Tiger Woods Dubai

The Tiger Woods Dubai (Arabic: ذي تايجر وودز دبيّ‎) is a proposed Tiger Woods-designed golf course and residential development in Dubai. It is a joint venture between Tiger Woods Design and Tatweer, a member company of Dubai Holding.[1] It was Woods' first announced course design project, but as of 2011 it is unlikely that it will ever be completed.

The golf resort was planned to cover an area of 580 acres (2.35 km²) at Dubailand,[2] with a par 72 golf course called "Al Ruwaya", a 60,000-square-foot (5,600 m2) clubhouse,[2] a golf academy, boutique hotel and residential properties around the golf course.

Al Ruwaya

The Tiger Woods Dubai course ("Al Ruwaya") was slated to open in September 2009.[3] The golf course will be known as Al Ruwaya Golf Course.[4] In June 2009, officials said that only three holes had been completed. In December 2009, the course was still not open, and a spokeswoman for the project was unable to say exactly how much of the course was complete.[5]

The golf course which will be managed under a ten year contract by IMG Golf Course Management.[6] The course will be a 7,800 yard, par 72 design.[7] It will require 4,000,000 gallons of water every day.[8]

Updates

According to Dubai Properties Group Chief Executive Officer Khalid Al Malik "Work on the course, designed by Woods and originally due to be finished by September 2009, has gotten as far as the eighth hole".[2] The holes that were built are expected to be reclaimed by the desert.
